Hospices de Beaune

The site
The Hospices de Beaune is a charitable institution founded in 1443 (by Nicolas Rolin and Guigone de Salins) in Beaune (source: compass_artifact_wf-5af489e6...). Its Hôtel-Dieu, with a famous polychrome glazed-tile roof, the salle des Pôvres, and historic kitchen, is Beaune's must-see monument (source).
The Domaine des Hospices owns ~61 hectares of donated vineyard, much of it Grand and Premier Cru (~50 ha Pinot Noir, 10 ha Chardonnay). It first offered the current vintage for public sale in 1859; the charity auction is now held on the third Sunday of November in the Halles de Beaune, with Sotheby's as official partner since 2021 (source). The auction is the centrepiece of Les Trois Glorieuses.
