If you were wondering where the rest of the world gets its inspiration for Sauvignon Blanc, look to the Loire Valley. The region has several appellations producing dry, herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc, the two most prominent being Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, which sit right next to each other. This is one of the places producing the best Sauvignon Blanc in the world — and 2015 was an awesome vintage (source: European Wine Exploration Map _ Wine Folly.pdf).

The Loire's other classic in the Wine Folly map is Muscadet, at the river's Atlantic end. For a flavor cousin grown in Austria, see Grüner Veltliner.
