For drinking sparkling wine "like it's beer," Prosecco is the bubbly solution that fits a weekly budget — one of the last bubbly fine wines that can be easily attained for well under $20 a bottle. There is a lot of low-end Prosecco, but once you know how to find the good stuff, you'll never look back (source: European Wine Exploration Map _ Wine Folly.pdf).

In northern Italy it shares the stage with Valpolicella (around Verona) and the whites of Pinot Grigio (Italy) country; among sparkling wines it is the value counterpoint to Champagne and Cava.
