The town

Remich is the practical capital of the Luxembourg Moselle — the “Pearl of the Moselle” — and the natural base for the valley, with the best RGTR bus links (line 175), a RentaBike station, the Navitours cruise quay and a long riverside promenade (source: Luxembourg-Moselle-Wine-Region-research.md).

Just north of town, Caves St Martin runs Crémant tours through a kilometre of limestone tunnels, and the inventive Domaine L&R Kox sits in the centre — so you can taste all day and still sleep on the river (source: Luxembourg-Moselle-Wine-Region-research.md).

Our notesThe valley base

Remich has the best transport, the bike station and the river cruises — the obvious place to sleep for a car-free wine valley. Combine free buses, the PC3 cycle path and seasonal boats.

§From the wiki

Remich is the practical capital of the Luxembourg Moselle — known as the "Pearl of the Moselle" (Perle vun der Musel) — and the natural base for the valley. It has the region's best RGTR bus links (line 175 to Luxembourg City and the Schengen villages), a RentaBike Miselerland station, the Navitours river-cruise quay, and a long riverside promenade lined with terraces and tasting stops (source: Luxembourg-Moselle-Wine-Region-research.md).

What to see

  • Caves St Martin — 1 km of limestone tunnels (since 1919) for traditional-method Crémant tours and tasting, just north of town on the Route de Stadtbredimus.
  • Domaine L&R Kox — an innovative family estate known for inventive Crémants and experimental wines.
  • Remich riverside promenade — a ~3 km tree-lined waterfront walk with terraces and tasting stops.
  • Moselle river cruise — glass-of-Crémant cruises past the vineyards aboard Navitours / the MS Princesse Marie-Astrid; a Marie-Astrid boat is where the Schengen Agreement was signed (source: Luxembourg-Moselle-Wine-Region-research.md).

Eat, taste & stay

  • Stay · Hôtel Saint-Nicolas & Spa — a 4-star riverfront hotel with a large wellness centre and the refined Lohengrin restaurant, on the Esplanade.
  • Stay & eat · Domaine la Forêt — a family-run spa hotel-restaurant in greenery just outside the centre; the Michelin-listed restaurant (chef Claude Wallerich) has a panorama over the valley (source: Luxembourg-Moselle-Wine-Region-research.md).
  • Stay · Hôtel de l'Esplanade — a characterful family-run inn directly on the promenade with river-view rooms.
  • Taste · Pavillon St Martin — the Caves St Martin riverside wine pavilion, pouring the house Crémants below the limestone cliffs.

Getting around

Remich is very walkable along its promenade. Free RGTR buses (line 175) connect it to Luxembourg City and south to the Schengen villages, though frequency drops on evenings and weekends. The flat PC3 cycle path runs the length of the valley from the RentaBike station here, and seasonal Moselle boats add a third car-free option (source: Luxembourg-Moselle-Wine-Region-research.md).
