Château du Clos de Vougeot

The château
The Château du Clos de Vougeot is the 12th-century Cistercian vat-house at the centre of the walled Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, with medieval presses and a cellar built for some 2,000 casks; a Renaissance manor was added in 1551 and the site was listed in 1949 (source: vougeot-research.md).
It no longer makes wine — it is a museum and the seat of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin — and hosts the Saturday-evening gala of Les Trois Glorieuses. Guided tours are capped at 20 and can be shortened when the château hosts private receptions, so reserve and confirm ahead (source: vougeot-research.md). For tasting inside the walls, see Château de la Tour.
